We've graduated!!
On Thursday last week, Julia and I woke up at 6.30am to make our way to Sheffield University and get clad in hot, heavy, furry robes and mortarboards. We sat amongst other graduates that we'd worked alongside over the past 3 years. Funnily enough, there were 2 seats between us and these were occupied by another inseparable pair - only they were twins. One after another we were ushered to the left of the stage and made our way across it to shake the Pro-Vice Chancellor's hand.
After speeches and applauds from proud parents, we escaped the Octagon into a sunny day to flounce around the university, over-heat, buy sentimental merchandise and throw our mortarboards. Our biomedical sciences department hosted us for a buffet lunch and drinks and we mingled with our lecturers and friends.
In the evening, we celebrated with our families and met later for one last night in the Foundry! The end of the night turned slightly emotional with drunken goodbyes to everyone we recognised as Biomed.
So, there you have it. A big thank you to our family, friends, housemates and lecturers. We've made some lifelong friends and had the most amazing university experience. Time has flown!
Onwards and upwards on a bike!
Though we have been quite busy enjoying ourselves recently, we are still making lots of progress. Our website is getting better! Julia did a wonderful plot of our route on Google Earth. Today we are publishing our Facebook page. We are shortlisting charities and making new contacts. We've had lots of fundraising and publicity ideas. We have also found many of the people we talk to about our plans have contacts or really useful advice for us, which is great!
